Clean development mechanism (CDM)

This project involved the quantification of the greenhouse gas emission reductions created through the operation of  four landfill gas to electricity projects in Taiwan.  Emission reductions were achieved through the capture and utilization of the methane contained in the landfill gas that would otherwise be vented to the atmosphere as well as the displacement of fossil fuel sourced electricity. The emissions reductions created by the projects were quantified using AM0003 – Simplified financial analysis for landfill gas capture projects and AMS-I.D – Renewable electricity generation for a grid of Appendix B of the simplified modalities and procedures for small-scale CDM projects respectively.  The emissions reductions were verified by an independent verifier and then sold to a third party for opportunistic greenhouse offset purposes.
