This project involved conducting a desktop assessment to quantify the carbon footprint of the 60 MWe Colmito back-up generator for a hydro-electric power plant in La Higuera, Chile. The methodology adopted for the assessment was consistent with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol for Project Accounting developed by the World Business Council for Sustainable Development and the World Resources Institute. The assessment of the project included the quantification of GHG emissions arising from the construction and operational phases of the back-up generator for three separate operating scenarios.
