About Perenia

Perenia’s first-hand experience in the successful implementation of emission reduction projects and the creation and commercialisation of carbon credits is one of our unique strengths.

We know from experience that structuring projects to create carbon credits is an intricate process.   Project developers must satisfy detailed eligibility criteria and negotiate a complex approvals procedure.

Perenia provides a complete carbon solution to help project developers successfully navigate this process from start to finish, with just a single point of contact.

About the partners

Pacific Hydro is Australia’s leading renewable energy company and one of the largest independent, specialist renewable energy businesses in the world.   It currently boasts more than 1,500 megawatts (MW) of hydroelectric and wind farm projects at varying stages of development across Australia, Latin America and the Asia-Pacific.   Every year, the company’s projects save the atmosphere from more than 1 million tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions and produce enough clean electricity to power 500,000 homes.

In 2005, Pacific Hydro negotiated a carbon transaction with ABN Amro for the purchase of 100 per cent of the carbon credits created from its Fijian hydro projects.   The company also achieved CDM registration for its 155MW La Higuera hydro project in Chile.  To date, this is the largest hydro project, and the first in Chile, to be registered.  In another first, La Higuera became the first large hydro to receive registration under the EU Linking Directive.  This experience has positioned Pacific Hydro as one of the few companies with a first-hand understanding of the CDM registration process and also how to structure and complete deals for the sale of carbon credits.  For more information visit www.pacifichydro.com
